Khon Kaen University Advances SDGs Through Research and Innovation Dissemination at Khon Kaen International Silk Festival, Pook Xiao Tradition, Red Cross Fair, and Soft Power Festival 2025

On 29 November 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU) undertook a research & innovation and academic dissemination initiative through its participation in the “Khon Kaen International Silk Festival, Pook Xiao Tradition, Red Cross Fair, and Soft Power Festival 2025”. The University presented a comprehensive exhibition of research outputs alongside a series of workshop activities. KKU facilitated scholarly workshop activities under the event theme “Weaving Silk, Weaving Hearts: A Tribute in the Remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother”. The festival is being held from 29 November to 10 December 2025 at the Khon Kaen Provincial Hall grounds.
Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, MD, President of Khon Kaen University, accompanied by Associate Professor Niyom Wongpongkham, PhD, Vice President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, graciously visited the research exhibition and workshop demonstrations. These activities were collaboratively organized by the Research and Innovation Affairs and the Enterprise and Societal Sustainability Affairs with the objective of transferring academic knowledge that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as promoting the improvement of community well-being within the region.
Furthermore, Associate Professor Panupon Hongpakdee, PhD, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation and International Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, together with faculty members from the Faculty of Agriculture including Associate Professor Prakaijan Nimkingrat, PhD Associate Professor Supat Isarangkool Na Ayutthaya, PhD Assistant Professor Chanon Labjit, PhD joined in welcoming the executives, provided an academic reception for the University’s executive administrators and guided them through the various exhibitions and workshops. This engagement enabled substantive dialogues concerning sustainable agricultural development and effective pathways for integrating academic research into community-centered practices.
Highlights of the Event
Workshop: “Growing Vegetables for HAO (Human, Agro, Opportunity) Towards Sustainable Development” led byAssoc. Prof. Prakaijan Nimkingrat. The workshop constitutes a component of a research-based project aimed at strengthening the grassroots agricultural economy through the adoption of appropriate technological and innovative solutions. The activity received considerable interest from the public and stands as a distinguished model of knowledge transfer from the University to the community. Its objectives are congruent with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 1 (No Poverty) through the advancement of accessible innovations that support sustainable livelihoods.
