
From December 2–4, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU) advanced international research collaboration between Thailand and Taiwan in the fields of Medical AI and health products. The delegation was led by Professor Pewpan Maleewong, MD, Vice President for Research and Innovation, together with Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai, MD, PhD,
Vice Dean for Research and Innovation, Faculty of Medicine, and a team of researchers from the Faculty of Medicine. The research team included Associate Professor Charupong Saengboonmee, MD, PhD, Department of Biochemistry, Principal Investigator of the project titled “Development of Integrated Multi-Omics Techniques for Accurate Diagnosis and Risk Prediction of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Individuals with Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease,” and Associate Professor Ubol Cha-on, PhD, High-Potential Researcher, Faculty of Medicine.
The delegation was invited by the Director of the Institute of Cellular and System Medicine, National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), Taiwan, to participate in discussions on joint research collaboration. The meetings were attended by the President of the National Defense Medical University, Taiwan, and the President of HongSheng Precision Biotech Co., Ltd., who also extended a warm welcome. The collaborative meetings were held at Taipei Medical University and National Defense Medical University in Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan).

On December 2, 2025, the visit commenced at Taipei Medical University (TMU), where the KKU delegation held discussions with genomics researchers to exchange knowledge and develop collaborative plans for advanced multi-omics research on hepatocellular carcinoma. In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited HongSheng Precision Biotech Co., Ltd., a leading company specializing in metabolomics analysis and health product development under the Lucist brand. The visit, hosted by the company’s executive team, provided valuable insights into the integration of fundamental research with commercial product development within Taiwan’s health industry.

On December 3, the delegation visited Tri-Service General Hospital, affiliated with the National Defense Medical University, to explore research advancements in Medical AI. The delegation was officially welcomed by Major General Professor Dr. Yi-Ting Tsai, followed by a visit to the Digital Medical Center–AI Lab. Dr. Chin Lin presented research on ECG signal analysis using smartwatches and telemedicine systems—technologies that enable timely treatment for cardiac patients in remote areas. This research has been published in leading international journals, including Nature Medicine, and Taiwanese researchers expressed interest in jointly studying the applicability of this technology within the Thai population in collaboration with KKU.
