The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with distinguished experts from the University of Toyama, Japan, held discussions on advancing research in immunology and oncology, with the aim of strengthening international collaboration and promoting the sustainable translation of research outcomes into practical applications.

     The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, continues to expand its international research partnerships. On April 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., Associate Professor Yaowares Sumanont, PhD, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs, led Professor Yoshihiro HAYAKAWA, PhD, Institute of Natural Medicine, University of Toyama, Japan, on a courtesy visit to Professor Pewpan Maleewong, MD, Vice President for Research and Innovation, KKU. The meeting was held in the 5th-floor meeting room, Research and Innovation Division, Office of the President. On this occasion, Associate Professor Chantana Boonyarat, PhD, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, also accompanied the visit.

The discussion focused on the exchange of strategic perspectives on research development and the advancement of international academic collaboration. Professor Hayakawa’s expertise encompasses the fields of Immunology and Cancer Biology, with particular emphasis on the role of Innate Immunity and Natural Killer Cells (NK cells) in inhibiting tumor progression, inflammation, and metastasis.

     การหารือในครั้งนี้มุ่งเน้นการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางการพัฒนางานวิจัย และการสร้างความร่วมมือทางวิชาการในระดับนานาชาติ โดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญจาก University of Toyama มีความเชี่ยวชาญด้านภูมิคุ้มกันวิทยา (Immunology) และชีววิทยาโรคมะเร็ง (Cancer Biology) โดยเฉพาะการศึกษาบทบาทของภูมิคุ้มกันโดยกำเนิด (Innate Immunity) และเซลล์นักฆ่าตามธรรมชาติ (Natural Killer Cells: NK cells) ในการยับยั้งมะเร็ง การอักเสบ และการแพร่กระจายของเซลล์มะเร็ง

This research direction aligns with the strategic research development goals of Khon Kaen University under the Reinventing University Program for fiscal year 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen knowledge, enhance research skills and competencies, and promote the development of technologies and innovations that respond to societal needs, while elevating the university’s research capacity to a sustainable international level.

     ทั้งนี้ แนวทางการวิจัยดังกล่าวสอดคล้องกับทิศทางการพัฒนางานวิจัยเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ภายใต้โครงการ Reinventing University ประจำปีงบประมาณ 2568 ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายในการเสริมสร้างองค์ความรู้ พัฒนาทักษะและสมรรถนะด้านการวิจัย ตลอดจนส่งเสริมการสร้างเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมที่ตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของสังคม พร้อมยกระดับศักยภาพงานวิจัยของมหาวิทยาลัยสู่ความเป็นสากลอย่างยั่งยืน
