About the Program
The Franco-Thai Cooperation Programme in Higher Education and Research (Franco-Thai Mobility Programme / PHC SIAM 2027–2028) is a bilateral research collaboration initiative between Thailand and France. The programme aims to strengthen sustainable academic and research cooperation between higher education institutions and research agencies in both countries.
The programme supports:
- Mobility exchange between Thai and French researchers
- Joint research and research training projects
- Development of collaborative research networks
- Capacity building for junior researchers including master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral students
The proposal must fall under one of the following research areas:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Marine, Earth & Planet Sciences
- Chemistry
- Biology & Health Sciences
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
- Information & Communication Science and Technology
- Agriculture, Food Science, Environment & Biodiversity
Funding Available:
French Government Support
The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs provides financial support of up to 12,000 Euro per year per project. The support includes:
- International travel costs for French researchers
- Living allowances for Thai researchers in France
- Health insurance support
Thai Government Support
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) provides funding of up to 150,000 Baht per year per project. The support covers:
- International transportation between Thailand and France
- Domestic transportation and quarantine expenses
- Remaining budget may be used for research materials, publication fees, and related expenses
In addition, host institutions are expected to support accommodation, living allowances, laboratory fees, and research facilities.
Program Duration:
Each selected project will be implemented over a period of two years (2027–2028).
The implementation of approved projects will begin in January 2027.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Proposals must be jointly submitted by Thai and French partner institutions/agencies
- Each side must appoint a Principal Investigator (PI)
- The Thai PI must be a researcher or faculty member affiliated with a higher education institution or research agency under MHESI
- Proposals must focus on new research topics if applicants have previously received PHC SIAM funding
- Projects must include both researcher mobility activities and training activities for junior researchers

Application Deadline
The call for proposals is open from 14 May 2026 to 31 July 2026. Successful projects will be announced by December 2026.
