Background

The Protein and Proteomics Research Center for Commercial and Industrial Purposes (ProCCI), Faculty of Sciences, Khon Kaen University, is a government research center. The ProCCI have been found as the head research center of sciences and biotechnology for over 15 years with much collaboration, including department of Biochemistry, department of Microbiology, and faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences. The emphasized purposes of the ProCCI are to focus on the proteins and enzymes that possess the conspicuous biochemical properties, the obtained knowledge could be benefit in the agricultural and industrial applications, food and biotechnology industrial applications, and medical and pharmaceutical applications. Furthermore, the ProCCI also produced and encouraged many master students, PhD, researchers, and specialists who will contribute and motivate the social impact of Thailand.

Goal & Mission

Protein and Proteomics Research Center for Commercial and Industrial Purposes (ProCCI) is the organization that integrated by the community of researcher from multidisciplinary including, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology who has expertise in researching in-depth properties of proteins and enzymes from biological resources of Thailand. Moreover, agricultural raw materials were also use as the resource for increasing the value of waste from industrial plants in order to support the agricultural and industrial application and medical application. The areas of research of ProCCI will create the basic knowledge and applied Knowledge as follows:
1. Study and identify types of proteins and enzymes which is an important active ingredient in biological resource using high throughput techniques in molecular genetics, omic techniques including, Transcriptomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics
2. Study and identify the types of microbes that can produce bioactive compound for industrial application
3. Structural and function study of proteins, peptide and enzymes in term of primary, secondary, tertiary, and quadratic
4. Production of recombinant protein and peptide using prokaryotic (Escherichia coli) and eukaryotic system (Pichia pastoris)
5. Study of biological properties of protein and peptide such as antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, anticancer, wound healing and anti-angiotensin converting enzyme (anti-ACE)
6. Study and development of products prototype from active protein/peptide such as nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, medical technology and agricultural medicine.
Moreover, the ProCCI has the cooperation from various agencies within country and abroad. We have been experienced and expertised in many research fields for over 15 years and produced many master students, PhD, researchers, and specialists. The overview of research scope was shown in this figure
