KKU Welcomes Study Visit Delegation from PSU to Foster Collaboration in Ethics in Animal Research for Scientific Purposes

On Monday, April 21, 2025, at 9:05 a.m., Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a study visit from Prince of Songkla University (PSU) to promote collaboration in the field of ethics in animal research for scientific purposes. The reception took place at Khon Kaen University in Room Kalpapruek 7, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building, and was presided over by Professor Pewpan Maleewong, MD, Vice President for Research at KKU, who delivered the welcome address. Also in attendance were Professor Kanokwan Jarukamjorn, PhD, Chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at KKU; Associate Professor Sirirat Anutrakulchai MD, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, Faculty of Medicine; Assistant Professor Sawitree Wongtangtintharn, PhD, Associate Dean for Strategic Planning and Quality Development, Faculty of Agriculture; and Associate Professor Kulthida Vaeteewoottacharn, MD, PhD, Acting Director of the Northeastern Laboratory Animal Center. They all joined in welcoming the delegation from PSU.
เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 21 เมษายน 2568 เวลา 09.05 น. ณ ห้องประชุมกัลปพฤกษ์ 7 ชั้น 2 อาคารสิริคุณากร มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น นำโดย ศ.พญ.ผิวพรรณ มาลีวงษ์ รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิจัย มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นให้เกียรติในการกล่าวต้อนรับ และได้รับเกียรติจาก ศ.ดร.กนกวรรณ จารุกำจร ประธานกรรมการกำกับดูแลการดำเนินการต่อสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ (คกส. มข.) พร้อมด้วย รศ.พญ.ศิริรัตน์ อนุตระกูลชัย รองคณบดีฝ่ายวิจัยและนวัตกรรม คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ผศ.สาวิตรี ตั้งวงถิ่นฐาน รองคณบดีฝ่ายแผนยุทธศาสตร์และพัฒาคุณภาพ คณะเกษตรศาสตร์ รศ.พญ.กุลธิดา เวทีวุฒาจารย์ รักษาการผู้อำนวยการศูนย์สัตว์ทดลองภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ร่วมให้การต้อนรับคณะศึกษาดูงานจากมหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์
The visiting delegation was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Wandee Udomuksorn, PhD, Chair of the IACUC at PSU, and Associate Professor Pilaiwanwadee Hutamekalin, PhD, Vice Chair, along with more than 16 team members from the Research and Development Office at PSU. The objective of the visit was to study KKU’s management system and standards related to laboratory animal research.
คณะศึกษาดูงานนำโดย ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วันดี อุดมอักษร ประธานกรรมการ คกส. ม.อ. และ รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.พิไลวรรณวดี หุตะเมขลิน รองประธานกรรมการ พร้อมทีมงานรวมกว่า 16 ท่าน จากสำนักวิจัยและพัฒนา มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ เข้าร่วมศึกษาดูงานระบบบริหารจัดการมาตรฐานการวิจัยในสัตว์ทดลองของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น
The purpose of the event was to facilitate knowledge exchange and best practices in the oversight of the scientific use of animals. The delegation also toured certified facilities recognized by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee for Scientific Purposes (IACUC-SP), under the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
กิจกรรมในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และแนวปฏิบัติด้านการกำกับดูแลการดำเนินงานต่อสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ และเข้าเยี่ยมชมสถานที่ดำเนินการที่ได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐานจากคณะกรรมการกำกับดูแลการดำเนินการต่อสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ของสถานที่ดำเนินการ (มคกส.) โดยสถาบันพัฒนาการดำเนินการต่อสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ สำนักงานการวิจัยแห่งชาติ (วช.)
In her address, Professor Pewpan Maleewong, MD, emphasized the importance of operating in accordance with the Animal for Scientific Purposes Act, B.E. 2558 (2015), and highlighted KKU’s role in establishing a supervisory center to ensure compliance with international standards.
ศาสตราจารย์ แพทย์หญิงผิวพรรณ มาลีวงษ์ ได้กล่าวต้อนรับพร้อมกล่าวถึงความสำคัญของการดำเนินงานภายใต้พระราชบัญญัติสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ พ.ศ. 2558 รวมถึงบทบาทของมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นในการจัดตั้งศูนย์กำกับดูแลการดำเนินการต่อสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานการวิจัยให้สอดคล้องกับหลักสากล
This study visit marks a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between the two universities and serves as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, contributing to the development and advancement of national standards in ethics in animal research ethics for scientific purposes.
การศึกษาดูงานในครั้งนี้นับเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างสองสถาบันอุดมศึกษา พร้อมเป็นเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ที่มีคุณค่า ซึ่งจะช่วยพัฒนาและยกระดับมาตรฐานด้านจริยธรรมการวิจัยในสัตว์เพื่องานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ของประเทศต่อไป
