About the Program
Liverpool John Moores University is offering nine Early Career Fellowships (three each for researchers from Brazil, Egypt, and Thailand), funded by the British Council through the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF). The fellowships support innovative, multidisciplinary research on natural products in areas such as health, drug discovery, biodiversity, sustainability, and public health, hosted primarily at the Centre for Natural Products Discovery (CNPD), School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, LJMU
Funding Available:
• A minimum bursary payment of £27,979 plus relevant London weighting if applicable.*
• £10,000 per 12-month period (pro rata for shorter fellowships) for research-related expenses.
• Other allowable costs, such as:
– IELTS exam fee if applicable (for fellows without a valid Test of English)
– Return economy-class travel from the home country to the UK
– Visa and insurance/NHS surcharge costs
– Ad hoc costs (heavy baggage allowance, etc.)
Program Duration:
12 Months
Eligibility
– Be an Early Career Researcher (ECR), not in a permanent academic post.
– Have a background/interest in the research area.
– Not receiving other UK funding.
– Meet English requirement (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent/waiver).
– Provide research plans linked to PhD/previous work + show career impact.
– Commit to capacity-building, engaging ECRs, and British Council monitoring.
