โครงการวิจัยนี้มีลักษณะการบูรณาการงานวิจัยในรูปแบบที่หลากหลายและแตกต่างกัน ประกอบด้วย 1) การบูรณางานวิจัยกับหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง ซึ่งเปรียบเสมือนเป็นผู้นำผลงานวิจัยไปใช้ประโยชน์ในระดับพื้นที่ (stakeholder) ได้แก่ สำนักงานสาธารณสุขอำเภอน้ำพอง, โรงพยาบาลอำเภอน้ำพอง, โรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพระดับตำบลจำนวน 18 แห่ง ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ทุกตำบลในพื้นที่อำเภอน้ำพอง จังหวัดขอนแก่น โดยมีรูปแบบการบูรณาการหลากหลายรูปแบบ เช่น การร่วมคิดและวางแผนการดำเนินงานวิจัยร่วมกันในทุกขั้นตอน การพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ที่เกิดขึ้นจากผลงานวิจัยร่วมกัน ทั้งในรูปแบบการประชุม การสัมมนา การอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการเพื่อพัฒนาบทความวิจัยเพื่อตีพิมพ์ รวมถึงการไปศึกษาดูงานทั้งในและต่างประเทศในประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องร่วมกัน เป็นต้น 2) การบูรณาการงานวิจัยแบบข้ามศาสตร์และมีความร่วมมือกับบุคลากรในหลากหลายสาขาในและนอกมหาวิทยาลัย ทั้งนี้เนื่องจากการตรวจคัดกรองโรคมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่/ไส้ตรง ถือเป็นการค้นหาร่องรอยของโรคในระยะเริ่มต้น (early detection) ซึ่งหากพบว่า มีร่องรอย ก็จะนำไปสู่กระบวนการยืนยันผลที่เป็นมาตรฐานในการวินิจฉัยโรค ได้แก่ การส่องกล้อง (colonoscopy) และหากพบว่า เป็นโรคมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่/ไส้ตรงจริง ก็จะนำไปสู่ขั้นตอนการดูแลและรักษา ที่มีโอกาสการรอดชีวิตสูงและมีประสิทธิภาพได้มากยิ่งขึ้น ซึ่งแนวทางการดำเนินงานดังกล่าว จึงจำเป็นต้องใช้สหวิชาชีพเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการดำเนินกิจกรรมร่วมกัน ซึ่งในโครงการวิจัยนี้ ได้มีหลากหลายสาขาที่เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการทำงานร่วมกัน เช่น หน่วยทะเบียนมะเร็ง คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ภาควิชาศัลยศาสตร์ และภาควิชาโสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยา คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น รวมถึงอาจารย์ในสาขาอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้องในคณะสาธารณสุขศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เช่น สาขาโภชนาการ สาขาสุขศึกษาและส่งเสริมสุขภาพ สาขาอนามัยสิ่งแวดล้อมและสาขาทางระบาดวิทยา เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้โครงการวิจัยยังได้มีความร่วมมือวิจัยกับหน่วยงานที่มีประสบการณ์และมีผลงานวิชาการเกี่ยวกับการตรวจคัดกรองโลกที่มีชื่อเสียงในระดับโลก ได้แก่ College of Public Health, National Taiwan University และ Taipei Medical University ของประเทศไต้หวัน เป็นต้น

(1) Innovation issues
