On August 3, 2024, the Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University (IRDTP-KKU) organized the 2024 KNUE-KKU Teacher Training Program under the topic of ‘Increasing skills and upgrading to enhance the quality of the teacher education system in the digital age’, with Professor Dr. Phiwaphan Maliwong, Vice President for Research, Khon Kaen University, giving an opening speech, along with Prof. Dr. Younghoon Kim, Director of KNUE UNITWIN Program, Korea National University of Education, Korea (South), Assistant Professor Dr. Phongthanat Saeju, Acting Director of the Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University, Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasit, Senior Researcher, Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN (IRDTP), Khon Kaen University, school teachers, lecturers, and educators from all over the country who are interested and have the intention to develop education and the teaching profession in the digital age. 54 people registered for the event and more than 100 people participated in the event online at the Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University.

..Asst. Prof. Dr. Phongthanat Saeju, Acting Director of the Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University, reported that this project is a collaboration between Korea National University of Education (KNUE) and the Institute for Research and Development of Teacher Professionals for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University (IRDTP-KKU), which has received great support from UNESCO and the Ministry of Education of Korea and is under the “UNESCO KNUE UNITWIN Project” focusing on driving sustainable development, SDG4: Quality Education and SDG17: Cooperation for Sustainable Development, which has been implemented since 2019. The objectives are to enhance the digital skills of personnel for teaching in the 21st century, promote international cooperation in the field of teacher education, and promote innovative teaching methods in the digital age.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pewpan Maleewong, Vice President for Research, at Khon Kaen University, said that this project is a collaboration under the UNESCO UNITWIN project, which has been honored by experts from Thailand, Korea, Japan, and Chile. Therefore, the organization of this project is an important step in the continuous efforts to upgrade the teacher education system and adapt to the challenges and changes in the digital age. It is also in line with the vision and goals of Khon Kaen University, especially in strengthening academic services, research transformation, and international cooperation, while also contributing significantly to the Social Impact Ranking of Khon Kaen University’s education.”

Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasit, Senior Researcher, Institute for Research and Development of the Teacher Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP), Khon Kaen University (right), gave an overview of the event, stating that over the next 4 days, teachers, lecturers, and educators from across the country will learn about various aspects of education in the digital age, designed to enhance the professional development of participants, including special lectures by renowned international experts to provide insights into global education trends, practical workshops, learning about cutting-edge applications of AI in education, and seeing practical applications through collaborative classroom and lesson planning activities.

…………..This collaboration project will be held from August 3-6, 2024, with activities including special lectures by renowned international experts from Korea, Japan, Chile, and Thailand, workshops covering key topics such as developing digital textbooks for mathematics, using ChatGPT for education, 4D frame technology, and computational thinking, and classroom opening activities.
