Background

The Integrated Nanotechnology Research Center, Khon Kaen University was originated from a group of researchers from different disciplines having the same interest in conducting multidisciplinary research. The Faculty of Science taking the lead by gathering scientists with different expertise, the co-operation team work has now been expanded to include researchers from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The center was officially established in March, 2006. The administration office is located in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, while the research facilities are shared between departments and faculties to gain the most benefit from many advanced and sophisticated scientific equipments, such as thin film X-ray diffractometer, micro-Raman spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, Transmission electron microscope and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system. Although the research center is just a few steps ahead of its official starting point, its capabilities have already been acknowledged. The researchers in the center were awarded TWAS Prize for Young Scientists in Thailand, from the National Research Council of Thailand , TRF-OHEC-SCOPUS Research Awards For Mid-career Scholar from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) and Scopus and Khon Kaen University. The research center produces about 40 publications per year. The research team consists of 21 researchers and 25 postgraduate students. The research center is funded by Khon Kaen University, the National Research Council of Thailand, Thailand Research Fund (TRF), Thailand Center of Excellence in Physics (TheP), the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) and the Newton Fund from UK.       In the year 2018, the center has been promoted to the Institute of Nanomaterials Research and Innovation for Energy: IN-RIE, which has the following management structure
