Thursday January 13, 2021 at 13:30 – 14.10 p.m. – The Innovation and Enterprise Section by the Center for Technology and Innovation Administration of Khon Kaen University held an MOU signing ceremony to solve lumpy skin disease in the Northeast between Khon Kaen University and Livestock Department. Signing on Khon Kaen part were Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Prof. Bundit Tengcharoensakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; and Assoc. Prof. Darunee Chotisayangkoon, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. For the Livestock Department, signing representatives included Dr. Bunyakrit Pinprasong, D.V.M., representing the Director of the Department; Mr. Wiwat Chaicha-um, Director of Livestock Development and Promotion Division; Dr. Weerapong Tanapongtham, D.V.M., an expert in human-animal contagious disease control (rabies). On December 8, 2021, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Khon Kaen University Prof. Monchai Duangjinda and the team were invited to a meeting with Udon Thani Provincial Livestock Office by the head of the Livestock Promotion and Development Group, Mr. Suphawat Srichet, Thai Buffalo Conservation and Development Association and Ban Chiang National Museum by Director of Ban Chiang National Museum, Ms. Kanokwalai Suriyatham, Mayor of Ban Chiang Sub-district, Major Sumeth Khamphiman, and livestock officials, Udon Thani Province, more than 20 people. The objective was to discuss the preparation of a project for DNA testing of cattle-buffalo skeletons at the Ban Chiang National Museum, where the bones of such large animals resemble cattle-buffaloes that were excavated in Ban Chiang Sub-district. which is the source of ancient civilizations of the world at the depth of 3000 years.
Khon Kaen University Apply the knowledge that is available in planning the sample collection to analyze the species and record the origins of animal species in ancient labor by scientific data. Archaeological data, it is important information to confirm the credibility of the ancient history of laboring animals. Thursday October 28, 2021 – Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University organized a workshop on “Amazing alternative plants – Cannabis and Hemp”. This workshop is under the Integrated Sub-district Socio-Economic Upgrading Project (University to Sub-districts) at Ban Fang Sub-district, Ban Fang District, Khon Kaen. Asst. Prof. Mallika Srisutham, Ajarn Pornthip Phontusaeng, Ph.D., and their team are the Ban Fang U2T Project responsible people. This workshop was honored to have Asst. Prof. Chanon Lapjit, Ph.D., an expert in cannabis research for medical and industrial purpose and a lecturer of the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Khon Kaen University, as the key speaker. The workshop was run by Zoom and was aimed at giving knowledge related to laws governing the manufacturing of products from cannabis and hemps for medical purpose and the benefits from value adding of the cannabis and hemp products.
