Monday, January 22, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the opening ceremony of The 2nd International Reinventing University Roadmap for Phenomics Symposium 2024 (IRURP) with Prof. Pewpan Maleewong, M.D., Assistant Rector for Research and Graduate Studies. Welcoming the meeting participants. At this event, Prof. Chainarong Navanukraw, Ph.D., Vice President of Regional Research Network: Northeastern Region Assoc. Prof. Jureerat Daduang, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology, Asst. Prof. Rossarin Tansawat, Ph.D., Lecturer in the Department of Food and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Faculty of Pharmacy Chulalongkorn University Asst. Prof. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Ph.D., Chairman of the Committee to Drive Research and Academic Services in Phynomics Phenome Center, Khon Kaen University, faculty and researchers both Thai More than 150 people from abroad attended the meeting at the Auditorium meeting room, 2nd floor, Science Park Administration Building. Khon Kaen University

The ceremony began with Prof. Pewpan Maleewong, M.D., welcoming the attendees by saying, “The purpose of organizing this event is To transfer knowledge in systems biology and bioinformatics Towards concrete utilization and provide maximum benefit to the country Including promoting the creation of cooperation between researchers who do research or are interested in doing research. Including the private sector that will use knowledge in systems biology and bioinformatics to develop more medical, agricultural, food, and pharmaceutical products in Thailand. We wish everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in activities to enhance knowledge and understanding and connect knowledge in systems biology to each other. Including enhancing research knowledge related to the study of metabolic pattern data more efficiently. And hopefully, it will be a good time. gain knowledge throughout the period of the 2nd IRURP academic conference and the short course training in multi-omics this time.”

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., The chairman of the opening ceremony said: “Organizing an academic conference and a short course in multi-omics (Short Course in Multi-omics) to provide opportunities for researchers working in research or interested in systems biology and molecular biology. Had the opportunity to exchange knowledge together and strengthen cooperation in research. and to increase the number of researchers in Thailand with multi-omics skills which are in high demand in the industry, especially in the medical, agricultural, food, and pharmaceutical industries.”

The Rector further said “Khon Kaen University established the Khon Kaen University Phenome Center in 2019 to drive research and academic services in precision medicine, precision agriculture, and precision nutrition. Using phenomics technology as an important tool and mechanism for developing the research of Khon Kaen University researchers. and Thai researchers from both government and private agencies. In addition, the Phenome Center of Khon Kaen University is cooperating with partners in the international Phenome Center network. To organize short-term training in metabolomics. and systems biology that have received an overwhelming response from researchers in Thailand. and many other countries in Asia and has been organized a total of 5 times for this time There were a total of 424 people who applied to participate in the training, and 35 people passed the selection process, with the P.P.C. being the source of funds that jointly supported the budget for organizing the 6th short-term training course, which is a training that will hone skills in Multi-omics and reflecting ideas into practice to develop knowledge in systems biology research. and use the knowledge gained from the training to develop the country further.”

After the opening ceremony Assoc. Prof. Jureerat Daduang, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology Introduced the project “Advanced Human Resource Development in Multiotics and Bioinformatics for Medical, Agricultural and Food Sciences” followed by a keynote address by Prof. Yulan Wang, Ph.D., Director, Singapore Phenome Centre, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore was the keynote speaker.

In addition, there was a special lecture by the speaker, Asst. Prof. Jutarop Phetcharaburanin, Ph.D., Chairman of the Committee for Steering Research and Academic Services in Phynomics. Khon Kaen University Nome Center, in the afternoon, Prof. Sompong Klai Nong Suang, Ph.D., Director of the Human Resource Development Fund Administration and Management Unit and funding for the development of higher education institutions Research and Innovation (B.P.C.) has stated its support for the project.
