Background

The IWRM was established in 2006 as one of Khon Kaen University’s research centers of excellence. The IWRM conducts research on water resources management, drought, flooding, and water  and soil pollution. It is also developing a database of local wisdom on land and water resources management and training researchers in techniques of land and water resources management.        

Goal & Mission

The IWRM will build the knowledge and capacity of people for land and water resources management based on good governance techniques that integrate local wisdom, the land and water resources potential and needs of each area, and the requirements of government policy in order to achieve a sustainable sufficiency economy.

 

  • To undertake research and develop management techniques based on integration among science, technology and local wisdom for sufficiency economy development
  • To enhance the capacity of researchers to understand regional water resource management and policy issues and to extend their research findings to local people through community outreach
