On July 21, 2021, 09.45-12.40 hrs, the International Affairs Division (IAD), Khon Kaen University (KKU), together with the Research and Graduate Studies Affairs, arrange an online workshop under the topic “Awarding NIH international research grants” for academic staff and researchers, in order to be informed about and understand the terms and conditions of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. Also, to be a forum for exchanging knowledge with experienced speakers who have already received research grants from this funding source. This event was honoured by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-Aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs, who presided over the opening ceremony, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs who also attended the event. In this workshop, more than 67 faculty members, researchers, graduate students and interested parties participated through the Zoom online meeting.

July 8, 2021 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the opening ceremony of the Conference: “Agriculture builds the nation, innovation builds occupations: Upgrading farmers with technologies and innovations.” The conference was organized by the Strategic Research and Coordination Institution for Northeast Development led by Assoc. Prof. Rangsan Niamsanit, Director of the Institute. The conference was organized via ZOOM and online platform, participated by academics, young smart farmers, leaders and representatives from governmental organizations, businessmen from the private sector, development workers, farmers and lecturers. At the conference, participants brainstormed ideas and knowledge in the use of technologies in farming. The event was also broadcast via Facebook page. There were 40 participants on site, and over 300 students, the public and representatives from organizations all over Isan participated via Zoom.

KKU President signs an MOU with Thailand Consortium for Atmospheric Research (TCAR)

July 13, 2021 at 13:00 p.m. – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 29 institutions and organizations on the principle of Thailand atmospheric research collaboration in order to found Thailand Consortium for Atmospheric Research, develop new infrastructures to support atmospheric research, collaboratively conduct research and build innovation related to atmospheric research, and carry out other related activities. The signing ceremony was done online.

Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Prof. Monchai Duangchinda, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Graduate Study; Prof. Phewphan Maleewong, Ph.D., M.D., Assistant to the President for Research and Graduate Study had a meeting with Khun Julaphas (Tom) Khrua-sopon to discuss research and academic collaboration related to hemp extraction in order to develop hemp products. The meeting took place at Kalphruek Room 4, 2nd Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.

June 29, 2021 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the opening ceremony of the Competency and Skill Development for the new lecturers of Khon Kaen University of the Fiscal Year 2021. Assoc. Prof. Kriengkrai Kitcharoen, Ph.D., Vice President for Human Resources made a reporting speech. There were 80 new lecturers joining this online event.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy with the Center for Asia-Pacific Tourism (CAPTOUR) Leads an On-Site Team in Kalasin Province, May 2021

Throughout the month of May 2021, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy with the Center for Asia-Pacific Tourism (CAPTOUR) brought a team to three subdistricts in Kalasin Province under KKU’s Project for Sustainable Development (University to Tambon, or U2T). The team partnered with lecturers to lead 8 training events in the province, aiming to train communities and improve knowledge related to language and tourism in the subdistricts of Na Chueak and Nong Tok Paen in Yang Talet District and the subdistrict of Pha Sawoei in Somdet District.

Handicraft for Elderly Enterprise Group” under the U2T Project

June 14, 2021 at 9:00-12:00 hours – Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University organized a workshop on “Contemporary Bamboo Handicraft for Elderly Enterprise Group” under the Integrated Socio-Economic Upgrading Project for Sub-districts (U2T Project) at Khua Riang Sub-district, Chumphae District, Khon Kaen. Asst. Prof. Mallika Srisuham and Dr. Pornthip Phontusaeng are in charge for the U2T Project in Khua Riang Sub-district with a working team. Mrs. Suphawadee Srisukhawat, District Chief Officer, chaired the opening ceremony, with Mr. Kampanat Thawongklang, Deputy District Chief Officer attending the opening session. The objective of the training was to upgrade the wickerwork and handicraft of the elderly enterprises group. The training also aimed at enabling the trainees to design interesting bamboo handicraft products with modern patterns and community identity. The trainer was Khun Noppamas Khot-ui, an expert in contemporary handicraft art and design. The training was held for 2 days, June 14-15, 2021.

KKU provides the Mini-Production House sets to all faculties to promote quick, simple and quality media production for online instruction

June 17, 2021 at the Learning Center, 3rd Floor, Building 1, KKU Library – The Digital Section of Khon Kaen University held a transferring ceremony of the Mini-Production House sets for producing teaching media for online instruction to all faculties. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony, while Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Digital conveyed a reporting speech on the objectives of the event. Over 60 people attended including deans and lecturers from all faculties.
